What does the $10 supply fee cover?
All materials for drawing and pastel painting are supplied including:
- artist quality pastels in vivid, beautiful colors
- pastel paper and tools
- Charcoal pencils
Pastel is the perfect medium for beginning students. They are very forgiving; they're easy to apply, blend, and even erase. The pastels we use are professional quality and are used by artists around the world. Many of the great impressionists used pastels in their works, but many don't realize it because the colors are as vibrant as oil paints. Once students have shown mastery they progress to the watercolor and/or acrylic lessons.
Yes, we offer watercolor and acrylic lessons to advanced students. Usually within 6 months of starting classes.
Will other mediums be taught beside charcoal and pastel?
There’s a saying in the art world, “Line before value, value before color.” That means that “line”, or the drawing, is more important than all the other aspects of the painting. That’s what our students learn first. We teach them to “see” how an artist sees. Anyone can hold a pencil and make a mark, what separates an artist from a scribbler is keen observation and knowing how to check and correct one’s drawing.
what will students learn first?
There is no financial commitment or contract other than month-to-month.
What if I need to stop classes?
As long as you notify us first you may reschedule a courtesy class, as long as there is space in that class.
What if I miss a class or go on vacation?
Yes, there is a seating area where parents can easily watch their children.
Can I stay and watch my child?
